First looks are becoming the norm these days when it comes to weddings, and we believe for good reason! For those of you who don’t know, a first look is when the bride and the groom choose to forego tradition and see each other prior to the ceremony on the day of their wedding. At Leah Barry Photography, we LOVE when our couples choose to have a first look! And we think you might love them too.
You’ll get a lot more pictures
Of course this is one of our favorite reasons for having a first look! Our couples who choose to have a first look end up with nearly twice as many portraits as those who don’t. Aside from the pictures couples get of the actual first look, having a first look also allows us to do portraits before the ceremony. With most wedding day schedules, this allows the least amount of stress, and lets the day run smoothly. Who doesn’t want that?
It will help you relax
A wedding is easily one of the biggest days of your life, and for many, that can cause a bit of stress. Who better to calm your nerves than the person your choosing to commit your life to? When you choose to do a first look, you get to see the person you love most, which can take those nervous feelings and change them into feelings of excitement.
You’ll get to spend more time together
Who’s this wedding day about? That’s right, you and your soon-to-be husband! So why spend more than half the day hidden away from each other, when you could be having fun and celebrating together? First looks allow you to spend the majority of the day together, and that seems like a win-win to us!
Of course, when it comes down to it, it’s your wedding day. You should feel the power to do whatever you want, whether that’s having a first look or waiting to see each other until you walk down the aisle. Either way, we’d love to be there to capture the moment you first see each other.
